Lorilei Dreibelbis is an Educator with over 20 years of experience across many ages, methodologies, environments, communities, and abilities. From Kindergarten to Professional Development, from Home Ec to Spanish IV, from public to private schools, from parochial to Montessori schools, from classrooms to pools, from severe dyslexia to gifted/ International Baccalaureate students, from social skills to rescue skills, from Capitol Hill to remote camps, I have facilitated the connection between learners and content in a myriad of conditions. Shaped by this breadth of professional experience, and as a homeschooling parent of an autistic son, I am in the unique position to see broad patterns in educational practice and build a repertoire of pragmatic skills in effective teaching. First and foremost, we need to cooperate with the organic process of neuroscience and be sensory knowledgeable, secondly we must intentionally create emotionally safe places, and thirdly we need to communicate effectively.
John Dreibelbis is an autistic youth who has embraced not only his differences, but his healing from childhood drama to be an advocate for himself and others. He is the living example of what is possible when the community around you believes in possibility and continues to grow into better versions of himself daily.
Belle Dreibelbis is a young lady with Auditory Processing Disorder and Dyslexia, and an eager leader! As she moves into maturity, Belle is learning to advocate and facilitate learning for herself and others. She brings a voice of personal insight into the discussion of how to alternative learners connect with content.
